OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of the Chapter shall be to promote high standards in the practice of cardiovascular medicine/surgery in the state of Connecticut and maximize the quality of care for individuals in Connecticut with cardiovascular disease.  In addition, the Chapter shall: 

1) Take a proactive role in advising local and state governmental as well as professional organizations and citizens concerning issues related to cardiovascular disease and the practice of cardiovascular medicine/surgery;

2) Take a proactive role in working with the College to inform and advise national government and professional organizations concerning the practice of cardiovascular medicine/surgery;

3) Act as an advocate for its membership in dealing with issues relating to economic and practice problems including third-party reimbursement, managed care providers, peer review, governmental review bodies, credentialing, and entities in quality assurance standards;

4) Develop standards to maximize access of citizens in Connecticut to cardiovascular health care; and

5) Foster the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease by promoting scientific interaction and educational activities among cardiovascular specialists in Connecticut.
